I feel very happy, very excited.
What I would like to share is being a Top Award Winner in various mathematics competitions, has really given me a lot of confidence in doing all things.
The ones I would like to thank the most are my instructors in BrainBuilder, and my parents too. They have given me a lot of coaching and encouragement. BrainBuilder Strategies have also given me a lot of great ideas in solving a difficult maths problem from different angles.
The best way to increase my maths knowledge is through more exposure, as the instructors always mention to me. Don’t limit ourselves in solving a problem by using just one method, or memorizing formula without understanding the reasons behind. And never give up, try your best, using effective methods.
For sure, I will continue putting my best effort in all kind of assessments in the future. Thanks to all the maths competition organizers in recognizing my achievement. Firstly, thank you for your tenacity and perseverance in sending us a constant stream of BrainBuilder news over the last two years. We finally acted on the invitation for Ren-Yi to attempt the ICAS qualifying assessment. Ren-Yi signed up for the BrainBuilder intensive ICAS programme in May this year.
The teacher-pupil effort certainly culminated in superb results! Being a medal winner has given Ren-Yi's self-esteem a tremendous boost. Undoubtedly, her motivation and confidence in tackling Mathematics has increased because of this accomplishment. We are overjoyed and proud of our daughter for her success. And we very much appreciate everyone in BrainBuilder for their obvious pride in Ren-Yi's achievement.
Ren-Yi is now enrolled in BrainBuilder's Mathematics programme. We like that the programme cultivates critical and creative thinking. More importantly, Ren-Yi is happy to attend classes. She finds the Mathematics she does at BrainBuilder more fun and interesting than that at school. First and foremost, I would like to thank all the teachers at BrainBuilder for helping and guiding me to prepare for the ICAS & AMC papers.
BrainBuilder’s unique methods have made me think out of the box. To solve a hard question, it can be very simple. The effective methods also help me in my studies in school. BrainBuilder has allowed me to be one step ahead of others.
One of the skills I gained from BrainBuilder is that I can now answer exam questions faster and with more confidence. The check-on-the-spot method also proved useful as it saves more time. I was interested in Mathematics even as a young child. I solved my sister's school Maths equations although I am 3 years younger than her. I played with numerical puzzles and they were solved quickly. I love numbers but I often struggled with the complicating and formula-based school Mathematics homework.
My mother noticed my potential and interest in maths after some time. She was recommended a programme - the BrainBuilder PowerMaths. My mother and I decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed. When I took the entrance exam to join BrainBuilder, my instructor was impressed with my score. The result was my mother enrolled me in the ICAS Intensive Programme.
Gradually, I found BrainBuilder fun and looked forward to attend the weekly classes. Although I got a headache at first, but I still found it interesting. There are many unusual and different methods to solve problems, and these methods were not taught in my school. With these extraordinary methods, it was so much easier to find the answers to my mathematics problems. It's so much more relaxing than my other classes outside of BrainBuilder Centre, and enjoyable as well.
I learn something new everyday. BrainBuilder questions that are meant for the preparation of ICAS-Maths Paper, are very fun to go through, and the solutions make me think 'outside the box'.

I joined BrainBuilder end of last year. When I first started, I was struggling to solve the questions. I was not equipped with anything besides regular school Maths skills. After a few months, I felt more comfortable solving challenging questions.
I want to thank my parents for enrolling me to BrainBuilder and the trainers for teaching so many new strategies to solve questions. I realised most school Maths could only offer straight and simple questions. Now I am able to solve critical thinking questions by using Model Drawing and various other effective strategies that I learned in BrainBuilder.
BrainBuilder has taught me many ways to simplify challenging problems. The special methods have provided me more ideas for better checking system.

In May, my mother sent me to BrainBuilder in preparation for the ICAS exam paper. If you ask me, I’m definitely glad that she sent me to BrainBuilder. If she had sent me to some other centre, I don’t think my maths and logical thinking skills would have been as developed as it is today.
BrainBuilder has taught me many, many different ways to solve mathematical problems that I would never have thought of. It has also helped me to stop making so many careless mistakes. I still make some now and then but much less than before and I am sure that after some time I shall stop making them altogether.

It started out as a boring task. A chore. Something I was forced to do. When I was first informed that I had to take some ICAS Exam, I wasn’t thrilled. On top of that, I was then told that I had to take lessons for the exam! I reluctantly dragged myself to this tuition centre and starting the programme to help me for the exam. Weeks passed, and before I knew it, I was done. Some time after, I sat for the actual ICAS Mathematics Examinations. I didn’t expect to get much; Maths wasn’t really my forte. I took the exam, and, being the adolescent boy I am, soon moved on and forgot about the whole thing. Now, imagine my shock when I received my results months after. Not only did I get a Distinction, but also my results were the top 2% in the whole world! How did I get this far?
BrainBuilder has helped me in ways that I cannot begin to describe. Their way of teaching you that there are many methods to solve a single problem is also useful. BrainBuilder has helped me achieve what I have achieved, and I’m sure they will be able to help you too. |

I would like to thank BrainBuilder and all the instructors because both the instructors and the programme have taught me how to use different ways in solving a problem, and how to think out-of-the-box easily.
Before I came to BrainBuilder, I disliked maths and was dropping out in my studies. It is lucky for me when my mum enrolled me in BrainBuilder in January 2009. I hestitated to go because I was not good in maths, but yet I was forced to.
A few months later I did quite well and I started to like maths a lot. From then, I have improved in my school work because I use BrainBuilder’s strategies to solve problems frequently. My BrainBuilder instructors convinced me to join ICAS-Maths and I agreed. Although the ICAS-Maths Intensive Programme occupied a lot of my time, it was still worthwhile because I managed to get good results and my parents were amazed with me.

To be frank, this is my first attempt in the AMC. When I was asked to join it, I thought I should just give it a try. That 'try' costed me1½ hours weekly for a month. I spent 6 hours to prepare myself for this exam.
I've learned numerous ways to answer tough Maths questions. Well, the good news is it would not be harder than what Albert Einstein had endured. He once said, “Do not worry about your difficulties in Maths. I can assure your mind is still greater”.
What I felt can be summarised in these three words ‘Satisfactory Is Guaranteed’. I am deeply satisfied with the overall performance of the BrainBuilder Centres. My greatest thank is presented to Dr. Fong, the founder of BrainBuilder. Here is a simple advice to the ones taking the exam, “Never give up and keep trying because I bet you will never try more than Thomas Edison, 111 010 tries.” |

Besides developing techniques in solving various challenging mathematical problems, BrainBuilder has also enhanced his confidence and self-esteem. He has also applied the methods he learned here on other subjects and the results have been very positive. Of course all this would not have been possible without the guidance of the dedicated instructors. They have taken the trouble and effort to train and motivate Harri to keep challenging himself. Their sincerity towards the students is what touched me most. They often communicate with me on Harri's progress and never calculative in the extra hours Harri spends there. Our son, Tay Yee Choon, has always loved numbers. In 2006, when SJK(C) Lick Hung first introduced ICAS to the school, Yee Choon, who was then in Standard 3, took part in the Mathematics assessment and scored high distinction which also got him the gold medal. Since then Yee Choon had taken part in ICAS Mathematics in 2007 and 2008. But unfortunately, he could only manage to achieve distinction.
However, in May 2009 Yee Choon was sent to BrainBuilder as we understood that they have the ICAS Intensive Programme which helps students to excel in the ICAS-Mathematics assessment. Without a doubt, Yee Choon did well in the assessment scoring a High Distinction.
This achievement was due to the dedication and guidance from the instructors. Not only had they instilled so much confidence in Yee Choon, they had also made the classes so enjoyable that Yee Choon looked forward to attending each class. Although Yee Choon did not attain a gold medal this year, in achieving high distinction and among the Global Top 1% achievers was an achievement and reward in itself.

I joined BrainBuilder since May last year. BrainBuilder has taught me many fun and creative maths strategies that are applicable even in my school math. They also helped me tremendously in understanding math better. Because of this, I improved a lot in my overall studies. Besides math, the strategies and skills that I learnt in BrainBuilder also helped me in my daily life. My thinking skills are better compared to the last few years. In school, I apply critical thinking skills in all subjects. I use different ways to study for each subject.
I participated in the ICAS previously and I found that it was different from school maths. ICAS was more challenging. So, I decided to join the BrainBuilder-ICAS Maths Intensive Programme to prepare myself for this year’s ICAS. I learnt many maths strategies that I have never even heard before. Both Zheng & Syuen have been performing well and active in school. Yet, the traditional and rigid way of studies practiced in school is still a concern to me.
Dr Fong’s Maths program which is structured to stimulate children’s analytical skills is definitely the ideal program that I was long looking for. Zheng & Syuen have been progressing well in mastering the creative and critical thinking skills which is important for their future. BrainBuilder’s program has drawn them to an outburst of enthusiasm for challenging work.

From a borderline candidate in the Qualifying Assessment prior to enrolling for ICAS Intensive Programme in May this year, Hannah has showed tremendous improvement with her success in being Global Top 18% group within a short period of just under 3 months time. Now she has more confidence in solving difficult mathematical problems.

In 2005, we enrolled our daughter K.Vaanishree in BrainBuilder hoping to spur her interest in Mathematics. Initially she was reluctant to attend classes but with the guidance and encouragement from the Instructor, she began having interest in mathematics.
In 2007, she sat for her first ICAS World Exam and she got a high credit. In 2008, she sat for the paper again and this time she got ‘Distinction’. She was very happy and proud of her achievement and as her parents, we were very happy for her and hope this will motivate her to do well in other examinations.

My children always tried to finish their homework on time and to squeeze whatever spare they had on television and games. They always solved a problem the same way they were being taught. The point is to finish the homework as soon as possible. I noticed that they were losing their creativity and in short – have become lazy thinkers.
I enrolled them with BrainBuilder, mainly is to stimulate their spectrum. There is always more than one way in skinning a bird. Let them realize that, as in mathematics, there is more than one way in solving a problem.
The dedication and encouragement of the instructors is a bonus to the programme. They always look forward for their next lesson.
For less than a year with BrainBuilder, I think they have done quite well. Not only that they have improved in their exams in school, they have become better thinkers. That is not much a parent can ask for. |

Firstly, I would like to say that BrainBuilder has taught me a lot of Maths strategies. I would like to thank all instructors teaching me. It has been a pleasure being a student at BrainBuilder.
I started joining BrainBuilder last year in November (after UPSR) and never regreted joining ever since. I wish I have joined this programme earlier so that by now, I would have made a better progress and have learned much more than I have learned now. I intend to recommend this programme to my friends because I had fun even though I was actually learning strategies from this programme. Being a ‘Late Comer’ in BrainBuilder (Chien Ling joined the centre in May 2008), after the Qualifying Test, Chien Ling qualified to join the ICAS Intensive Programme as well as sitting for the coming ICAS World Exam in July. Without second thought I enrolled her for the exam just to expose her.
Her feedback was encouraging as she was exposed to a total different concept of doing mathematics from what she learned from school.
It was a pleasant surprise that she did rather well after barely two months in the centre. Her score is among the World Top 3% students in 2008 ICAS-Maths!

Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the instructors in BrainBuilder. I would also like to congratulate BrainBuilder for having done an excellent job.
When my mom handed me the BrainBuilder brochure and asked me if I was interested to join this program, I presumed that: ‘This is only for kids in primary schools.’ Even when I began my first lesson in BrainBuilder, I wanted to quit, thinking that it was too easy for me. However, after my third, fourth and fifth lessons, BrainBuilder turned out to be a distinguished maths center which emphasizes a lot on developing students’ thinking skills, irrespective of school grades.
In BrainBuilder, I have learnt that there are several approaches and solutions to a problem.
Distinctively, BrainBuilder is NOT an A-centered tuition centre (BrainBuilder is an enrichment centre). It has changed the perspectives and concepts that students have towards Maths. Before attending BrainBuilder, I used lots and lots of Algebra when attempting a Maths problem. BrainBuilder honed my Maths problem solving skills and nurtured my critical thinking skills. Since taking classes in BrainBuilder, I have developed some techniques which I have not learnt in any other centres. For instance, skills like table-drawing and branch-drawing.
It has been proven that the 3-Month BrainBuilder ICAS & AMC Intensive Programme turned out to be really helpful and vital for students to reach their goals in ICAS Maths, AMC Maths and even school Maths. Also I will always bear in mind the 2Cs (Creative and Critical Thinking), which I have learnt in BrainBuilder when attempting any Maths problem. |

This year when my parents enrolled me to Brainbuilder, I was very excited and eager to get started because I knew I would learn many new things that weren't taught in school. With my family's encouragement and my instructor's guidence, I scored a Distinction in my ICAS examination. Brainbuilder has helped me a lot. It has taught me many ways to solve a difficult problem not only by using algebraic expressions, but also solve problems by using Model Drawing, Drawing Graphs and many others. My instructor always told me to Believe In The Power of Model Drawing but it wasn't until my final exam when I encountered some really difficult and tricky questions that I realised that Model Drawing help me overcome these problems.

Ever since I started BrainBuilder, I have improved my handwriting and thinking skills. BrainBuilder had taught me some interesting techniques to understand a problem better such as model drawing. I used these techniques while learning in BrainBuilder and also in school. These techniques have made it easier to solve hard problems. I have a better understanding on how to solve problems not only in BrainBuilder and school but also in my daily life. Without these techniques, I might not even be able to score good grades in my examinations.
I used to throw tantrums when I couldn’t solve a question, and just give up on the questions and wait for teacher's answer. But ever since I started BrainBuilder, I learned to be a more patient person and this had helped me to face challenges that I encounter in my life. BrainBuilder has truly changed my life. Maths has always been my favourite subject. I joined BrainBuilder at the end of May 2010. BrainBuilder, as the name suggests, really builds my brain! I’ve learnt many ingenious and out-of-the-box strategies to solve mathematical problems. The best part is, they are even applicable in my school Maths and Add Maths subjects.
My overall understanding of Maths has improved. Moreover, BrainBuilder has helped further develop my critical and analytical thinking skills. For instance, I can solve questions within seconds instead of minutes now! This is not only pertinent to mathematical subjects, but to other subjects as well.
After 3 months of joining ICAS Intensive Programme, I sat for ICAS in August 2010. The syllabus in the intensive programme is very much different from what I learn in school. This is because Math formulas do not come into play much; in fact, it requires a great deal of logical and creative thinking skills, in order to solve those challenging Maths problems ‘easily’. During the ICAS assessment, I’ve applied everything I’ve learnt from BrainBuilder to solve the problems!

I joined BrainBuilder’s ICAS Intensive Programme in June 2010 to further improve my problem solving skills, as I have registered in ICAS-Maths 2010 for my very first time.
I have always loved Maths, since I started learning mental arithmetic when I was 5. Since then, I have been able to calculate faster and sometimes without the need of a calculator. Yet, when I’m facing questions which require all sorts of thinking skills, I wasn’t able to solve them as mental arithmetic only involves addition/ subtraction/ division/ multiplication of numbers.
After joining BrainBuilder, I was taught to use various creative methods in solving different kind of questions. It didn’t only improve my problem solving skills; it also helped me in thinking out of the box. Moreover, I’m able to solve some questions within a much shorter period as compared to before joining BrainBuilder. Mathematics is one of Theng Yang’s best and favourite subjects in school. He enjoys the learning atmosphere at BrainBuilder since he enrolled in the class in April 2009. The teachers are very caring and concern.
In 2008, he sat for his first ICAS World Exam and he got a Credit. In 2009, he enrolled in the 3-month BrainBuilder-ICAS Intensive Programme and sat for the World Exam again and this time he got a High Distinction. Reuben started BrainBuilder classes about a year ago. We are pleased with the results. He tells us that the instructors here teaches him creative ways to solve mathematical questions, such as using ‘model drawing’, ‘branch drawing’, ‘making a table’, and ‘making a whole’. Although some of these methods and strategies sound mysterious to us, they have helped him grasp difficult and abstract mathematical concepts. I will always remember the rabbit, chicken and duck math problem and how amazed I was to see, what I thought was a complicated problem requiring algebra skills, easily solved by the ‘drawing’ technique.

Being a rather active boy who has short concentration, it’s really amazing that Bryan has achieved good results in the ICAS Exam. Registering Bryan during the school holiday camp (June 2009) was just a coincidence as I didn’t want him to stay at home watching TV.
Bryan has been attending mental mathematics classes at a very young age. However, he always didn’t show much interest especially on the homework part as it’s considered boring and repetitive. With constant dislike to attend the mental arithmetic classes, I decided to find an alternative. I got to know BrainBuilder from a friend and registered Bryan for a trial class. He enjoyed the classes and is willing to go for the holiday camp.
After attending BrainBuilder classes, Bryan has scored full marks in his school mathematics progressive exam. It is normally unusual as he always made careless mistakes.

When my paternal grandma drew my attention to this programme, my reaction was, “Oh no, another one of those boring things that adults love to push on us”.
On the first day, my heart told me, “Yes, it is one of those things”. The instructor was saying many things. My mind was not even listening to 25% of it. But, out of sudden, “click”, I realized that the instructor is touching on something very close to my heart – the topic of logical thinking. I have been very keen on taking up mental challenges all along. So, this is like "WOW"!
Upon completion of the BrainBuilder-ICAS Intensive Programme, I find myself in better control up my own sense of mathematical logic, something I can use to tease and impress my friends; something that will help me greatly in my lessons in school. Not even that, their Maths Enrichment Programme is also a Great One!!

It is now the third year since Brendan has joined the BrainBuilder Programme and continued to be under the guidance of the BrainBuilder Instructors.
Looking back, as the saying goes, time really flies and within the blink of an eye, Brendan was again to ready himself for yet another seating for the 2008 ICAS Examinations. This time round, the instructors nurtured and guided him in areas where he needed coaching and had also shown and advised him on certain skill sets and techniques that could be perceived as useful tools that could be applied in his School as well as the ICAS Examinations.
Thanks to the instructors' commitment, Brendan has excelled once again by maintaining & exceeding his high score for a High Distinction during the 2008 ICAS seating this round with a score of 38/40, which was an improvement over his last score in the Standard 3 ICAS Examinations in 2007 of 35/40.
Despite his score of 38/40, which was just a mere mark below the Gold Medalist score of 39/40 this seating, we are still very proud of Brendan’s Achievement. Well, as a word from a parent to yet another, we believe and will still continue to place our son, Brendan under the hands of the instructors and their program that through their continued guidance, Brendan shall maintain consistency of high scores on one hand, but more importantly, his critical thinking skills which shall always be an asset in life for his future.

We were introduced to the BrainBuilder Concept in the Year 2006 via a seminar held in Sekolah Sri Sedaya where our son, Brendan Low was then attending the Primary Two. As Brendan had always been and is still very much interested in Mathematics, we had decided to enroll him in the Programme organized by BrainBuilder with a simple objective that is to see him excel and further enhance his intellectual ability to a higher level viz a viz in the Mathematics subject. |

Like most parents would have been, I had always wondered what was the methodology undertaken and applied in the BrainBuilder Programme. Well, trusting the BrainBuilder's "Secret Recipe" as founded my Dr Fong, and leaving my son in the hands of the qualified and experienced educators, I have continued sending Brendan to attend and progress from one level to another within their Programme. I was intrigued with the Critical Thinking Skills Maths programme. Needless to say, I quickly enrolled my 3 girls (Sophia, Serena and Samantha) into the programme when it was first introduced in their school 2 years ago. |

For me the greatest ACHIEVEMENT for my girls is learning that Maths can be, and is ENJOYABLE with the right teaching methods and learning environment. The various strategies such as Model Drawing, Making A Table, Grouping Concepts, Mind Games transformed Maths learning from boring, tiresome, rote learning exercises into stimulating, fun and 'thinking outside the box' activities.
