Our son, Tay Yee Choon, has always loved numbers. In 2006, when SJK(C) Lick Hung first introduced ICAS to the school, Yee Choon, who was then in Standard 3, took part in the Mathematics assessment and scored high distinction which also got him the gold medal. Since then Yee Choon had taken part in ICAS Mathematics in 2007 and 2008. But unfortunately, he could only manage to achieve distinction.

However, in May 2009 Yee Choon was sent to BrainBuilder as we understood that they have the ICAS Intensive Programme which helps students to excel in the ICAS-Mathematics assessment. Without a doubt, Yee Choon did well in the assessment scoring a High Distinction.

This achievement was due to the dedication and guidance from the instructors. Not only had they instilled so much confidence in Yee Choon, they had also made the classes so enjoyable that Yee Choon looked forward to attending each class. Although Yee Choon did not attain a gold medal this year, in achieving high distinction and among the Global Top 1% achievers was an achievement and reward in itself.

I joined BrainBuilder since May last year. BrainBuilder has taught me many fun and creative maths strategies that are applicable even in my school math. They also helped me tremendously in understanding math better. Because of this, I improved a lot in my overall studies. Besides math, the strategies and skills that I learnt in BrainBuilder also helped me in my daily life. My thinking skills are better compared to the last few years. In school, I apply critical thinking skills in all subjects. I use different ways to study for each subject.

I participated in the ICAS previously and I found that it was different from school maths. ICAS was more challenging. So, I decided to join the BrainBuilder-ICAS Maths Intensive Programme to prepare myself for this year’s ICAS. I learnt many maths strategies that I have never even heard before. During the ICAS exam, I used as many strategies as I can, and it enabled me to solve many challenging questions.

I would like to thank all the instructors for teaching me all the effective maths strategies. These strategies will surely help me in the future.

After attending BrainBuilder-ICAS Intensive Programme, I had undergone a tremendous change and improvement that had brought me to another level in my academic performance. The teaching methodology in BrainBuilder has not only boosted my self-confidence in facing the ICAS Mathematics, but has an effect in assisting me to reach my peak performance when dealing with other mathematical examinations, thus has developed a great interest in Mathematics within myself.

One of the most significant skill set that I gained from BrainBuilder is that I can now answer exam questions with a faster speed and as a result provides more time for checking my answers to ensure excellence in delivering the result. Both Zheng & Syuen have been performing well and active in school. Yet, the traditional and rigid way of studies practiced in school is still a concern to me.

Dr Fong’s Maths program which is structured to stimulate children’s analytical skills is definitely the ideal program that I was long looking for. Zheng & Syuen have been progressing well in mastering the creative and critical thinking skills which is important for their future. BrainBuilder’s program has drawn them to an outburst of enthusiasm for challenging work.

Firstly, thank you, BrainBuilder, for helping Asyraf to be World Top 10%. He is now one step closer in achieving his dream of being a Mechanical Engineer.

We got to know about BrainBulider and the ICAS World Exam from newspapers and websites. At first, I just wanted to try his capabilities and enrolled him in the BrainBuilder-ICAS Maths Intensive Program for 3 months.

It is proven that the program is very successful.

First we would like to congratulate BrainBuilder for guiding our two daughters, Liyana & Hannah, in achieving the GLOBAL TOP 10% & TOP 18% in 2009 ICAS-MATHS. We are very proud of them and it is indeed a great achievement especially for our second daughter Hannah. 

From a borderline candidate in the Qualifying Assessment prior to enrolling for ICAS Intensive Programme in May this year, Hannah has showed tremendous improvement with her success in being Global Top 18% group within a short period of just under 3 months time.  Now she has more confidence in solving difficult mathematical problems. 

Her critical thinking and analytical skills have also improved.  She is able to understand other different concepts of doing mathematics well.  Her attitude towards mathematics has also changed.  She looks forward to attending and enjoys her ICAS classes very much.

Yong Yue has been one of the top scorers in the school, however she only achieved PARTICIPATION in her 2007 ICAS Maths.  After joining BrainBuilder Programme in April this year, in just 5 months time, the Programme has proven to us the tremendous improvement in her 2008 ICAS-Maths which she achieved Distinction and also Global Top 10%.

In 2005, we enrolled our daughter K.Vaanishree in BrainBuilder hoping to spur her interest in Mathematics. Initially she was reluctant to attend classes but with the guidance and encouragement from the Instructor, she began having interest in mathematics.

In 2007, she sat for her first ICAS World Exam and she got a high credit. In 2008, she sat for the paper again and this time she got ‘Distinction’. She was very happy and proud of her achievement and as her parents, we were very happy for her and hope this will motivate her to do well in other examinations.

My children always tried to finish their homework on time and to squeeze whatever spare they had on television and games.  They always solved a problem the same way they were being taught. The point is to finish the homework as soon as possible. I noticed that they were losing their creativity and in short – have become lazy thinkers. 

I enrolled them with BrainBuilder, mainly is to stimulate their spectrum.  There is always more than one way in skinning a bird.  Let them realize that, as in mathematics, there is more than one way in solving a problem.

The dedication and encouragement of the instructors is a bonus to the programme. They always look forward for their next lesson.

For less than a year with BrainBuilder, I think they have done quite well. Not only that they have improved in their exams in school, they have become better thinkers. That is not much a parent can ask for.

Wey Kit has joined BrainBuilder for only a few months.  He has always performed well.  This time, his Maths result is exceptionally commendable. 

Joining BrainBuilder has helped invoke his analytical and critical thinking skills that he has attained substantial degree of accuracy without compromising the time factor.

I started joining BrainBuilder last year in November (after UPSR) and never regreted joining ever since. I wish I have joined this programme earlier so that by now, I would have made a better progress and have learned much more than I have learned now. I intend to recommend this programme to my friends because I had fun even though I was actually learning strategies from this programme. Being a ‘Late Comer’ in BrainBuilder (Chien Ling joined the centre in May 2008), after the Qualifying Test, Chien Ling qualified to join the ICAS Intensive Programme as well as sitting for the coming ICAS World Exam in July. Without second thought I enrolled her for the exam just to expose her.

Her feedback was encouraging as she was exposed to a total different concept of doing mathematics from what she learned from school.

It was a pleasant surprise that she did rather well after barely two months in the centre. Her score is among the World Top 3% students in 2008 ICAS-Maths!

The Dr Fong Maths Programme “BrainBuilder” is just the programme I have been looking for. To think “out of the box” is an essential “life skill”.

I would like to thank all the teachers because I learnt many new strategies to help with my math skills. Even though the methods look quite complicated, they are actually quite easy to execute after mastering the principles. The special and effective methods helped me in my way to achieve amazing Awards such as Gold Awards in ICAS and MASMO.

Actually, I was pretty good in maths since birth. Then in mid-2010, my mother found this interesting enrichment centre called BrainBuilder. I go to this centre every Sunday nowadays, to further my maths knowledge and C2 thinking skills (creative and critical thinking).

BrainBuilder offered sponsorships to 2 students in my school to attend the 2010 ICAS-Maths Intensive Programme. I was very glad to be chosen to attend this programme. As this was the first time I had joined BrainBuilder, I was very excited to be exposed to various mathematics problems that are seldom taught in class.

Attending BrainBuilder was an eye-opening experience for me as there were various problem-solving skills to learn. Not only had I learnt alternative ways to solve challenging problems, but also gained new perspectives as well as enhanced my critical and analytical skills. Attending BrainBuilder has given me more confidence. As a result, I did well in my ICAS and AMC. I was able to relate the questions to what BrainBuilder has taught me throughout the whole intensive programme.

Firstly, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the instructors in BrainBuilder. I would also like to congratulate BrainBuilder for having done an excellent job.

When my mom handed me the BrainBuilder brochure and asked me if I was interested to join this program, I presumed that: ‘This is only for kids in primary schools.’ Even when I began my first lesson in BrainBuilder, I wanted to quit, thinking that it was too easy for me. However, after my third, fourth and fifth lessons, BrainBuilder turned out to be a distinguished maths center which emphasizes a lot on developing students’ thinking skills, irrespective of school grades.

In BrainBuilder, I have learnt that there are several approaches and solutions to a problem.

Distinctively, BrainBuilder is NOT an A-centered tuition centre (BrainBuilder is an enrichment centre). It has changed the perspectives and concepts that students have towards Maths. Before attending BrainBuilder, I used lots and lots of Algebra when attempting a Maths problem. BrainBuilder honed my Maths problem solving skills and nurtured my critical thinking skills. Since taking classes in BrainBuilder, I have developed some techniques which I have not learnt in any other centres. For instance, skills like table-drawing and branch-drawing.
It has been proven that the 3-Month BrainBuilder ICAS & AMC Intensive Programme turned out to be really helpful and vital for students to reach their goals in ICAS Maths, AMC Maths and even school Maths. Also I will always bear in mind the 2Cs (Creative and Critical Thinking), which I have learnt in BrainBuilder when attempting any Maths problem.

BrainBuilder does not only teach Maths, but also IQ Maths that helped me with my thinking skills. I like IQ questions and Maths because they can be quite challenging. The methods that the instructors taught me in BrainBuilder are special and made the questions simpler.

This year when my parents enrolled me to Brainbuilder, I was very excited and eager to get started because I knew I would learn many new things that weren't taught in school. With my family's encouragement and my instructor's guidence, I scored a Distinction in my ICAS examination. Therefore, I would like to thank my parents for sending me to Brainbuilder and my sisters for teaching me and sharing new techniques that they have learned. I would also like to thank my BrainBuilder instructor for patiently teaching and coaching me.

Brainbuilder has helped me a lot. It has taught me many ways to solve a difficult problem not only by using algebraic expressions, but also solve problems by using Model Drawing, Drawing Graphs and many others. My instructor always told me to Believe In The Power of Model Drawing but it wasn't until my final exam when I encountered some really difficult and tricky questions that I realised that Model Drawing help me overcome these problems.

Other than that, Brainbuilder also taught me that There Is No Shortcut To Success But To Take One Step At A Time, to Never Give Up and always be confident in yourself. Again, THANK YOU, BRAINBUILDER!!!!

First and foremost, I would like to thank BrainBuilder. I got distinction in my ICAS examination because of BrainBuilder. BrainBuilder has helped me a lot. I would like to thank my parents for sending me to BrainBuilder. I would also like to thank my sisters for teaching me how to solve hard questions.
Ever since I started BrainBuilder, I have improved my handwriting and thinking skills. BrainBuilder had taught me some interesting techniques to understand a problem better such as model drawing. I used these techniques while learning in BrainBuilder and also in school. These techniques have made it easier to solve hard problems. I have a better understanding on how to solve problems not only in BrainBuilder and school but also in my daily life. Without these techniques, I might not even be able to score good grades in my examinations.
I used to throw tantrums when I couldn’t solve a question, and just give up on the questions and wait for teacher's answer. But ever since I started BrainBuilder, I learned to be a more patient person and this had helped me to face challenges that I encounter in my life. BrainBuilder has truly changed my life. Now, I have more confidence in myself. It feels so good to be able to solve problems without consulting other people for help.

Maths has always been my favourite subject. I joined BrainBuilder at the end of May 2010. BrainBuilder, as the name suggests, really builds my brain! I’ve learnt many ingenious and out-of-the-box strategies to solve mathematical problems. The best part is, they are even applicable in my school Maths and Add Maths subjects.
 
My overall understanding of Maths has improved. Moreover, BrainBuilder has helped further develop my critical and analytical thinking skills. For instance, I can solve questions within seconds instead of minutes now! This is not only pertinent to mathematical subjects, but to other subjects as well.
 
After 3 months of joining ICAS Intensive Programme, I sat for ICAS in August 2010. The syllabus in the intensive programme is very much different from what I learn in school. This is because Math formulas do not come into play much; in fact, it requires a great deal of logical and creative thinking skills, in order to solve those challenging Maths problems ‘easily’. During the ICAS assessment, I’ve applied everything I’ve learnt from BrainBuilder to solve the problems!
 
In a nutshell, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my instructor for teaching me effective, useful and creative Maths strategies. These strategies will definitely help me in my future studies.

I joined BrainBuilder’s ICAS Intensive Programme in June 2010 to further improve my problem solving skills, as I have registered in ICAS-Maths 2010 for my very first time.

I have always loved Maths, since I started learning mental arithmetic when I was 5. Since then, I have been able to calculate faster and sometimes without the need of a calculator. Yet, when I’m facing questions which require all sorts of thinking skills, I wasn’t able to solve them as mental arithmetic only involves addition/ subtraction/ division/ multiplication of numbers.

After joining BrainBuilder, I was taught to use various creative methods in solving different kind of questions. It didn’t only improve my problem solving skills; it also helped me in thinking out of the box. Moreover, I’m able to solve some questions within a much shorter period as compared to before joining BrainBuilder. With the use of BrainBuilder’s effective strategies, I benefited a lot by applying them in my daily life. It also boosts my confidence and enhanced my self-esteem.

BrainBuilder has taught me the art of Critical Thinking and this skill has helped me with my Maths Olympiad lessons in school. I would like to extend my gratitude to the instructors in BrainBuilder for mentoring me in the BrainBuilder-ICAS Maths Intensive Programme. Thanks to them, I was able to achieve this. They guided us by teaching us many methods which were both practical and time saving. The clean and condusive environment enhanced our learning process.

I gained a lot from this programme. Some methods that have been taught in this programme are helpful even in my A-Levels. I believe, if anyone wants to invest for their child’s future, they should enroll their child in the centre.

Mathematics is one of Theng Yang’s best and favourite subjects in school. He enjoys the learning atmosphere at BrainBuilder since he enrolled in the class in April 2009. The teachers are very caring and concern.

In 2008, he sat for his first ICAS World Exam and he got a Credit. In 2009, he enrolled in the 3-month BrainBuilder-ICAS Intensive Programme and sat for the World Exam again and this time he got a High Distinction. He was very happy with his achievement, thanks to all the teachers for their encouragement, dedication and patience.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to BrainBuilder for constantly guiding Theng Yang. We are indeed very proud of Theng Yang’s achievement.

Reuben started BrainBuilder classes about a year ago. We are pleased with the results. He tells us that the instructors here teaches him creative ways to solve mathematical questions, such as using ‘model drawing’, ‘branch drawing’, ‘making a table’, and ‘making a whole’. Although some of these methods and strategies sound mysterious to us, they have helped him grasp difficult and abstract mathematical concepts. I will always remember the rabbit, chicken and duck math problem and how amazed I was to see, what I thought was a complicated problem requiring algebra skills, easily solved by the ‘drawing’ technique.

This is Wey Shern’s first attempt in the ICAS world assessment. BrainBuilder mentors have guided him to grasp the mathematical concepts to tackle and excel in his school exams. His analytical skills have been sharpened and this led to good results in his math exams. 

BrainBuilder has helped to boost his confidence to think constructively and solve maths problems outside the conventional thinking. Most importantly, he enjoys attending classes in BrainBuilder.

BrainBuilder is a ‘think out of the box’ programme which has helped our daughter Sheela Ruth Khatwani to obtain better results in school. Academically she has improved quite substantially and also in general day to day, she has become more critical of what she sees and hears, before she absorbs it.

Being a rather active boy who has short concentration, it’s really amazing that Bryan has achieved good results in the ICAS Exam. Registering Bryan during the school holiday camp (June 2009) was just a coincidence as I didn’t want him to stay at home watching TV.

Bryan has been attending mental mathematics classes at a very young age. However, he always didn’t show much interest especially on the homework part as it’s considered boring and repetitive. With constant dislike to attend the mental arithmetic classes, I decided to find an alternative. I got to know BrainBuilder from a friend and registered Bryan for a trial class. He enjoyed the classes and is willing to go for the holiday camp.

After attending BrainBuilder classes, Bryan has scored full marks in his school mathematics progressive exam. It is normally unusual as he always made careless mistakes.

I am very pleased with Bryan’s achievement, thanks to the instructors for being very patient with him. Especially in capturing his attention!

First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Instructors in BrainBuilder for their best effort and guidance to my son.

Jun Wei has been with BrainBuilder for a year plus. His result has shown tremendous improvements especially in problem solving skills and critical analysis. He is enjoying his classes with BrainBuilder very much, as he finds the teaching methods of BrainBuilder to be fun and engrossing.

Raimi has been with BrainBuilder for the last 11 months. Being exposed to different concepts of doing mathematics is the one he enjoys the most.

I was told that he is qualified to join the ICAS Intensive Programme as well as sitting for the ICAS-Maths World Exam. My intension to enroll him for the exam was just to expose him. Well it was a surprise that he had scored among the World Top 8% students.

The BrainBuilder method of teaching has not only aided my son to tackle maths problem solving questions in a step-by-step and “easy to picture” way but has also inspired him to see mathematics as a FUN subject.

I am particularly impressed with the high standard of teaching and the dedication of the teachers who went more than the extra mile to ensure that Nicholas grasped the concepts.

Nicholas has always enjoyed his classes with BrainBuilder. Whilst waiting outside his class I frequently hear sounds of the kids having fun inside!

Timothy has always enjoyed doing Mathematics and this is one of his best and favourite subjects in school.  I enrolled him in the BrainBuilder ICAS-Maths Intensive Programme and Timothy has found it interesting especially with the guidance from his instructor who has extended much patience to students in making sure they understand fully.

Thank you once again to BrainBuilder instructors for helping Timothy achieve a Distinction in the 2008 ICAS-Maths.

When my paternal grandma drew my attention to this programme, my reaction was, “Oh no, another one of those boring things that adults love to push on us”.

On the first day, my heart told me, “Yes, it is one of those things”. The instructor was saying many things. My mind was not even listening to 25% of it. But, out of sudden, “click”, I realized that the instructor is touching on something very close to my heart – the topic of logical thinking. I have been very keen on taking up mental challenges all along. So, this is like "WOW"!

Upon completion of the BrainBuilder-ICAS Intensive Programme, I find myself in better control up my own sense of mathematical logic, something I can use to tease and impress my friends; something that will help me greatly in my lessons in school. Not even that, their Maths Enrichment Programme is also a Great One!!

This indeed, is a good programme for students like me. I strongly recommend to anyone out there.

It is now the third year since Brendan has joined the BrainBuilder Programme and continued to be under the guidance of the BrainBuilder Instructors.

Looking back, as the saying goes, time really flies and within the blink of an eye, Brendan was again to ready himself for yet another seating for the 2008 ICAS Examinations. This time round, the instructors nurtured and guided him in areas where he needed coaching and had also shown and advised him on certain skill sets and techniques that could be perceived as useful tools that could be applied in his School as well as the ICAS Examinations.

Thanks to the instructors' commitment, Brendan has excelled once again by maintaining & exceeding his high score for a High Distinction during the 2008 ICAS seating this round with a score of 38/40, which was an improvement over his last score in the Standard 3 ICAS Examinations in 2007 of 35/40.

Despite his score of 38/40, which was just a mere mark below the Gold Medalist score of 39/40 this seating, we are still very proud of Brendan’s Achievement. Well, as a word from a parent to yet another, we believe and will still continue to place our son, Brendan under the hands of the instructors and their program that through their continued guidance, Brendan shall maintain consistency of high scores on one hand, but more importantly, his critical thinking skills which shall always be an asset in life for his future.
